ABOUT US

SAVE: Effecting positive change in safeguarding and victim engagement through football

We didn’t know it at the time but ‘SAVE’ was born in December 2016. The four of us met at Wembley having been invited to discuss the escalating ‘non-recent childhood sexual abuse in football’ issue that had engulfed the media. Immediately it became clear, along with empathy with each other, we had common ground. We wanted to be part of the solution, not a distraction to it. The meeting with the F.A. was successful with much progress made and the promise of a follow up, action plans and promises. After many more such meetings and conference calls it became abundantly clear that we were making a difference and were in a unique and maybe privileged position to be an integral part of the solution and the way forward. We particularly thank Greg Clarke and Sue Ravenlaw at the F.A., Gordon Taylor and Darren Wilson at the P.F.A., Colin Bland at Sporting Chance and Doctor Elly Hanson for all their co-operation, collaboration and assistance to this point and no doubt moving forward.
